A passive intervention in water transport systems.

DABV is a Norwegian-developed passive technology that
intervenes in water sources and water transport systems
without chemicals, energy input or consumables.

One coupled phenomenon, three expressions.

Mineralisation, biofilm and microbubbles are not three separate problems that occur simultaneously. They are one coupled phenomenon with three expressions. DABV is mounted externally on the pipe surface and operates alongside existing filtration, softening, UV disinfection and chemical dosing.

THE PROBLEM

What accumulates inside

an untreated system

Untreated systems lose 15%-25% of design efficiency over fifteen years. Deposits accumulate on heat transfer and pipe surfaces from the day a system is commissioned. Chemical programs reduce some symptoms; the underlying coupled processes continue.
1 mm of limescale adds 7%-10% to energy consumption, 3 mm approaches 25%
Biofilm anchors microbial growth
Chemical treatments add cost and environmental impact
Equipment degrades faster than it should

The solution

One technology,

addressing all three mechanisms

DABV is fitted to the outside of an existing pipe section, with no cutting, welding or fluid contact. It operates without chemicals, power input or consumables, alongside any filtration, softening or chemical dosing programs already in place. The unit count is reduced to a maintenance level after the cleaning phase.
Prevent scaling and biofilm before they form
Reduce energy waste by up to 20%
Reduce chemical dependency from your workflow
Extend equipment lifetime by up to 75% longer
Where DABV operates today
From hotel heating loops to greenhouse irrigation, from dairy water systems to drinking water wells. The same passive device, configured for the operating conditions of each installation.

Dairy Operations

Dairy Water Systems

Water quality affects how the rumen microbiome converts feed nitrogen into milk protein, and how scale and biofilm accumulate in chillers, heaters and parlor lines. DABV is installed externally on each, without chemicals and without maintenance added to the existing service schedule.

Greenhouses & Food production

Hydronic heating & irrigation

Water quality affects root zone chemistry, biofilm growth in irrigation lines, and heat transfer in greenhouse heating loops. DABV is fitted externally on each. The reference installation in Finland documented a 20.0% reduction in district heating consumption.

Hotels and commercial buildings

Building optimization

DABV is installed on the hydronic heating system at Thon Hotel Storo in Oslo. Energy consumption has been reduced by 15%.

In most buildings, the dominant losses are not in the boiler or the chiller but in the pipework. Scale, corrosion and biofilm accumulate on heat transfer surfaces and inside circulation paths and reducing thermal performance.
